Corruption wastes no time.
Just one week after the newly-elected Mayor of Newark, Polly Sierer took the helm, she’s already plotting with the city council to force through tax hikes.
And this is bigger than just Newark . . .
If the politicians can get wacky proposals like this passed in Newark, it’s going to be replicated in town after town in Delaware.
What they are planning to do at their City Council meeting on Monday could start a statewide avalanche of new taxes on citizens all across Delaware.
They’re going to pass a new “Rain Tax.”
If you know anyone who lives or does business in Newark, make sure you notify them of this meeting immediately.
The Newark City Council meeting is at 7:00 PM at City Hall this Monday, December 9th. We need every person we can to attend and testify against this proposal.
Storm water drainage assessments and fees were passed in the State of Maryland this past year and local politicians all across the country are seeing money signs.
If it gets passed in Newark on Monday, expect it to come to your local community very soon.
The initial fee in Newark will start at of $7.50 per month for residential properties and $30 per month for commercial and industrial properties.
And like all new taxes, those numbers will rise in the years to come. It will be yet another lever for the local politicians to pull every time they want to spend more money.
On top of that, they will also be voting to increase the water rates in the city.
But to add the final insult to their injury, a proposal to give themselves pay raises will also be voted on.
Each Council member will receive a $1,500 increase in their annual salary. The Mayor is set to receive an increase of $2,100.
This is outrageous. The citizens of Newark should not stand for it.
And people from all across the state should be concerned. Once a precedent and model is set, politicians at all levels of government will follow their lead.
The Newark City Council meeting is at 7:00 PM at City Hall this Monday, December 9th.
Please get the word out and stop the outrageous proposals from becoming law.
Let’s send a strong message to city hall: NO rain tax, NO water rate hikes, and NO pay increases for politicians.
Chairman, First State Liberty PAC
P.S. Please get the word out to anyone you know in Newark.
Have them call and email their Council members, then show up at City Hall on Monday at 7:00 PM. We must demand that these measures of increased spending and taxation be defeated.
