Another major thorn in the side of Christina School District residents continues to be the very wasteful, $22 Million Pencader Building debacle.
And with that issue still fresh in the minds of many voters, one resident raised the following question:
Christina School District has 24 principals for 26 schools because they don’t meet a state requirement to be allocated funding for 26 principal positions. Considering enrollment has dropped 3,680 students in the last ten years, couldn’t we be consolidating one or two schools and selling the properties? ~Dave in Newark
FSL, Inc President Eric Boye sent the following request to the Citizen’s Budget Oversight Committee:
“…has the district done any assessment on consolidating and closing any buildings, selling off assets? Folks are curious about this considering the 3,600+ student enrollment drop since 2006.” ~ 3/17/2016
The following reply came back the same day:
“I am investigating your second question regarding consolidation assessment and will have an answer for you as soon as possible, I do not have the answer off the top of my head.In the meantime if there’s anything else you need just let me know.” ~ 3/17/2016
