This is a clear case of the rich, private consultants and bureaucrats getting richer and the middle class paying to line their pockets with cash.
Federal money kept in their pockets. State money slashed. Appoquinimink getting the short end of the stick. And instead, our public funds getting wasted in typical crony-capitalist style to private vendors, contractors, and favored big businesses.
In the Appoquinimink District, legislators like Representatives Rebecca Walker and Quinn Johnson, plus Senators Nicole Poore, Bethany Hall-Long, and Bruce Ennis have a lot of explaining to do.
They voted to remove $4 Million from Appoquinimink in the State budget this year. Ironically, that the approximate amount we’re being told we have to pay with this TAX HIKE REFERENDUM.
They also have a state law on the books that restricts school boards from moving money from their capital budgets to the operations budget; another set of handcuffs that might help avoid tax hikes.
Half of the $119 Million dollars received from Barack Obama’s “Race To The Top” boondoggle were kept in Dover, handed to private vendor contractors to roll out mind-numbing requirements for state and federally controlled education schemes.
Now we see the effects and how that’s working out for the taxpayers.
We need more local control of our schools. The top-down model is continuing to fail and conditions keep getting worse.
Teachers and Principles are being fired anyway, according to their plan, so no one is saving any teachers by allowing these political shenanigans to continue.
Show up to the polls listed above on May 9th and VOTE NO on this 2nd attempt to hike middle class taxes.
Don’t believe the threats that this is going to hurt the children. There’s only a 9 cent (per $100 of assessed value) difference since the first referendum.
We are now suffering the consequences of allowing our state government over the years to consolidate school control into a top-down model. THAT is what needs to change.
And things only change when you TAKE A STAND and DEMAND IT with your vote.
And CLICK HERE to sign our petition to Stop Education Dollar Corruption in Delaware. Send a clear message to your legislators that it’s time to reverse the top-down, micromanaging approach to educating our children.
It’s up to us. Real Change starts now.
