If you wasted your money, spent down your savings, and maxed out all of your credit cards, could you just tell your boss to pay you more in your next paycheck?
Of course not.
But the folks at DelDOT think that’s what you do.
You see, the Delaware Department of Transportation and Governor Jack Markell are proposing a 10 cent increase to the gas tax in Delaware.
While middle class families are fighting to pay their bills, DelDOT and the state government are just saying “More, more, more.”
Scandals, unethical land deals, and corruption have plagued DelDOT for years.
Yet they want us to trust them with more of our money.
The State of Delaware is holding an incredible amount of debt and maxing out lines of credit, yet we are told that continued subsidization of these reckless spenders is “absolutely necessary.”
Please join citizens from across Delaware right now to sign the petition AGAINST this foolish tax hike:
Rather than actually address financial problems by tightening the belt–Delaware politicians would rather you give them another credit card to max out.
Enough is enough.
Millions and millions of dollars are being wasted every year on mass transit programs that don’t work. Meanwhile, necessary road repairs don’t happen.
The Markell Administration has been wasting money on bike lanes and walking paths that folks don’t use while everyday drivers are left behind.
Please know this:
- The central planners that run DelDOT are committed to forcing their anti-property rights agenda down our throats and they need a gas tax hike to do it.
That’s why what we do in the NEXT FEW WEEKS is so important to the future of Delaware.
The DelDOT crowd despises the car and they don’t want folks driving them—they want us on buses or trains or bikes or just plain walking.
Our transportation choice should be just that–a choice!
Whether the DelDOT bureaucrats like it or not, a lot of people, especially poorer folks, depend on one car for their family and are on tight incomes.
Raising the gas tax by 10 cents disproportionately hurts low income residents in Delaware.
Why should struggling families in Delaware be the victims of utopian dreams of DelDOT planners?
What should be more important:
Helping Delaware families grow and prosper?
Giving government bureaucrats more money to waste?
But understand something else here.
This goes deeper and further than just this gas tax fight.
Shailen Bhatt, the Secretary of DelDOT and also a past Field Director for Obama for America, let the cat out of the bag recently saying that “there will be a day when the gas tax is obsolete.”
You see, they won’t get the same revenue off of the gas tax if we’re all driving hybrid cars.
So what’s the next answer?
A new Vehicle Miles Traveled Tax.
That’s right, DelDOT and the State of Delaware will be tracking your every move on the roadways so that they can tax you for how much you drive.
We certainly can’t allow a VMT tax in our state and passage of a gas tax hike in Delaware this spring will continue to equip DelDOT to implement their agenda.
Please sign our petition today to let your elected officials know that under no circumstances do we support any gas tax increase. The correct way to vote on any proposal is to vote against a gas tax hike.
It’s time to stand up to Jack Markell and the career bureaucrats.
Don’t reward DelDOT with more money, we must reduce the influence of government on our transportation system and let capitalism work.
First State Liberty PAC
P.S. DelDOT has been wasting our tax dollars and providing sub-par service for years, why should we reward incompetence with more money?
